1900年(光绪二十六年)开始铸造清式铜币，1911年(宣统三年)开始铸造。虽然铸币史仅十余年，但其鼎盛时期全国共铸铜币十七个省二十局开机。光绪元宝是大清光绪年流通大面值货币之首，是我国首批引进海外技术的印发流通货币，对于现今也蕴藏了一定历史意义。光绪二十七年(1901)二月，浙江省铜元局申请开制当十、当五铜元，光绪二十八年，上海瑞生洋行从英国伯明翰造币厂购得铜币，并于光绪二十九年正月，正式在杭州旧军装局开制当十、当五铜元。据文献载录，浙江铜元模具是由英国著名雕刻师艾伦·韦恩设计的。

In 1900 (the 26th year of Guangxu reign), Qing style copper coins began to be minted, and in 1911 (the third year of Xuantong reign), they began to be minted. Although the history of coinage is only over ten years, during its heyday, a total of seventeen provinces and twenty bureaus of copper coins were minted nationwide. The Guangxu Yuanbao was the first large denomination currency in circulation during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty, and was one of the first batch of currency issued and circulated in China to introduce overseas technology. It also holds certain historical significance for today. In February of the 27th year of the Guangxu reign (1901), the Zhejiang Provincial Copper Bureau applied for the production of Dang 10 and Dang 5 copper coins. In the 28th year of the Guangxu reign, Shanghai Ruisheng Foreign Exchange purchased copper coins from the Birmingham Mint in the UK, and officially opened Dang 10 and Dang 5 copper coins at the Hangzhou Old Military Bureau in January of the 29th year of the Guangxu reign. According to literature, the Zhejiang copper ingot mold was designed by renowned British sculptor Alan Wayne.

近期我公司征集了一枚浙江省造光绪元宝，直径27.8mm，重量7.2g，此钱币形制、大小及材质皆符合规定。钱币正面中央铸有“光绪元宝”，左右满文“宝广”，中间烙有梅花纹饰，外环珠圈，上缘纪地文字为“浙江省造”。下缘纪值文字为“当十”；铜制精良，形制规整，包浆醇厚。极具艺术收藏价值。

钱币背面中央铸龙图及火龙珠，上下铸有英文。背面纹路清晰，如刀刻所成，铸造工艺神乎其技，极其瑰丽！“浙江省造光绪元宝”是古代国家发布流通的钱币，此钱币虽然经过无情岁月的洗礼，但如今保存依然完好，实属难得。钱币虽小，亦可管窥当时社会文化一斑。该钱币表面历史留下的痕迹清晰可见，极具收藏价值和观赏性，即便是对光绪铜币没有研究的外行也是爱不释手。
Recently, our company collected a Guangxu Yuanbao made in Zhejiang Province, with a diameter of 27.8mm and a weight of 7.2g. The shape, size, and material of this coin comply with regulations. On the obverse center of the coin, there is the inscription "Guangxu Yuanbao", with the Manchu characters "Baoguang" on the left and right. In the middle, there is a plum blossom decoration, surrounded by a bead circle, and the inscription on the upper margin is "Made in Zhejiang Province". The character of the lower margin period value is "Dang Shi"; The copper is exquisite, the shape is regular, and the coating is mellow. Extremely valuable for art collection.
