Da Ming Hongzhi Year Silver Coin

From the perspective of form, the Da Ming Hongzhi Shou silver coin was obviously imitated under the influence of Western silver coins. The Da Ming Hongzhi Shou silver coin has rubbings in the "Chinese Ancient Coin Library" edited by Song Zhiqiang; In the 1998 "Catalogue of Chinese Spending Money" by Huaguangpu, there is also a rubbings. The two rubbings have different outer diameters, edges, and the coins have the same text, belonging to two different editions. This imitation Western cast silver coin can also be called a silver cake. During the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, there were silver cakes for military salaries in Zhangzhou, Fujian, and silver cakes for longevity in Taiwan. During the Xianfeng period, there were silver cakes for Wang Yongsheng. These two silver cakes with the Hongzhi Shou character were more than 300 years earlier than the above-mentioned silver cakes. So, it can be said without hesitation that this is the earliest imitation of Western silver coins in China.
The silver coins with the Da Ming Hongzhi pattern and longevity characters have pioneered the imitation of Western silver coins in China, and should occupy an important position in the history of silver coins in China. Silver grain played a crucial role in promoting social progress, improving economic structure, promoting people's livelihood development, and international commodity trade at that time.

Recently, our company has collected ten taels of Ming Dynasty Hongzhi silver with a diameter of 58.9mm and a weight of 7.2g. In the middle of the collection's surface text is the regular script reading "Hongzhi Year of the Ming Dynasty", with "grain silver" and "one or two" on both sides, with edges and teeth. The back text is a large seal script with the character "Shou". The two books of Zhenzhuan are well organized and elegant, with a graceful and smooth appearance. The character "Hongzhi" is very similar to a version of the "Hongzhi Tongbao" Xiaoping coin cast in the 16th year of the Hongzhi reign (1503), which has the characteristics of the Ming Dynasty calligraphy style. The paste is dark gray, old and mature, with smooth edges and natural wear and tear.
The back of the book features a large seal script with the character "Shou". The style of the money is simple and unadorned, without any decorations. The craftsmanship and font are in line with the characteristics of casting at that time. This is the earliest silver coin used with the character "grain silver". Due to its scarcity, it has high collection value and historical value!
