史国良是中国国画写实派的代表人物，中国当代著名人物画家，国家一级画家，中国美协会员，中央美院及首都师大美术系客座教授，中国国家画院研究员，中国艺术研究院研究员。他的画作以反映时代生活为主，运用写实的手法生动地将国画的美妙展现得淋漓尽致。史国良师从蒋兆和、黄胄和周思聪先生，毕业于第三师范学校，之后考入中央美术学院国画系研究班，在我们中国的绘画传统中我们讲究师承派系，史国良即是师承名师，又是学院派，所以这也影响了他后期的绘画方式，在继承传统的同时，既有大师的风范，又有自己的独特绘画技巧，自成风格。但在史国良的艺术成就之路上，在外人看来他做过很多“疯魔”之事。

He even wanted to transfer his files to Xizang in order to paint in Xizang all the time. He was not hindered by the honors and achievements in front of him, and he still pursued his own path in the pursuit of art, constantly obtaining nourishment from life. Under the guidance of Huang Zhou, Shi Guoliang integrated sketching into Chinese painting, supplemented by a heavy color painting style, which was established in his painting style. His paintings were delicate and vivid, forming a character painting style that integrated national, contemporary, and distinct personalities. He was able to showcase the inner feelings of characters through painting, gradually achieving his position as a Chinese figure painter.

史国良为了更好的学习绘画，提升自己，放弃了北京画院的工作，变卖家产，只身前往加拿大，可是这一去并不顺利，历经坎坷，之后辗转来到美国，这个时候的他想把中国美术史上的重要的一脉-画僧给传承下来，于是1995年他遁入空门，法号释慧禅，开启了他长达15年的僧人生活，也正是在这期间他有充足的时间静心作画，在绘画技法上也是日渐精进，在这期间创作了《小昭寺》《母子图》等代表性作品。

15年后他为家人还俗，史国良曾说“艺术一定是自由的、多情的，感性的。”他对艺术的追求一直没有因为身份的变化而停止，他对边疆少数民族有着一股执着的情怀，新疆、西藏成为他经常需要去的地方。西藏更是史国良创作的养分来源，他的老师周思聪曾说“史国良去趟西藏就像去王府井”，甚至为了一直在西藏写生，他甚至想把自己的档案调到西藏。他没有被眼前的这些荣誉，这些成就阻挡自己的脚步，他在追求艺术的道路上依旧是我行我素，从生活中不断的获取养料。在黄胄的指引下史国良以速写融入中国画，并辅以重彩的绘画方式，在他的绘画方式中确立下来，他的画细腻生动，形成了融民族性、时代性和鲜明个性的人物画风，他能将人物的内心通过绘画展示出来，渐渐成就了他在中国人物画家的地位。
